| Major Atlan Sparking (Lightning) Stone Derived from original write-up written by Botanika de la OSP of Morningthaw Quest guides: Bryster, The Spectre Step 0: Preparation Good preparation is the key here. A check list of what you will need:
Step 1: The Mad Dash Get your self to the Amperhelion Vault in one piece. This is the hardest part. You will need to run from Ayan, Dungeon of Corpses, Black Dominion, Black Spawn Den, etc. This is EXTREMELY dangerous, as the Dires are now populated by Diamond Golems, Bone Knights, etc. that would love to munch on your corpse for breakfast. The highest level buffs are the key here. And make sure when you buff you include Sprint and Quickness, so you can get away from the nasty things chasing you. There are points where you can stop and heal while nothing is on the screen. Make good use of these. Also, turn DOWN your detail settings to avoid the 2fps you can end up with right outside the vault. Once you begin to approach the entrance to the Vault you need to just make a b-line for it. Its surrounded by a bunch of a nastiness. The entry is marked by a windmill on the north side of the river. Run straight into the portal. Under no circumstances stop and check the view. You WILL die if you do. (Note: As of the January patch, the spawn seems to have lightened up a bit here...) Step 2: Final Preparation Enter the vault and wait in the entry room for your party to arrive. The entry room is safe. Its also a good idea to have everyone wait here and bake off any bad spells they picked up from the run. Upon debuffs expiring, cast (or wear) Lightning Protection, and cast lightning bane and impenetrability on your shield, coat, and gaunts. Here is a list of the monsters you will encounter while in the dungeon:
Step 3: Threading the Maze 1. Open the door in the entry room. Straight across from you will be another door. Behind it is the surface portal. Don't go there :) its worse outside. 2. Take a right here and head down the hall and across the bridge:
3. Follow this hall it will curve down and to the right and there will be an Ash Gromnie in the hall along the way. You will come to a small pit room. Jump down and there will be two exits. Take the one that was directly underneath you so your effectively doing a 180. 4. First word to the wise. You are going to be taking a series of halls downward and passing through large rooms. Unless your party includes a very powerful character, the goal is to dart across the large rooms as quickly as possible and not fight anything as many of them have several of the level 121 Astyrrians in them. If you have a few powerful characters in your group, let them deal with the Astyrrians, and stay back, so you don't receive the vuln/one-hit one-kill combo. You will also encounter in these passages several of the Scintilla, Static, and Ash Gromnies so be prepared to fight them as many times you cant get through the small passage ways unless you kill them. The Astyrrians, however, at this point to do not need to be killed, just run around them. 5. Ok from the initial pit you jumped down into and took the 180 do the following:
6. Follow this passage down and you will come down a ramp to a T-Intersection. This T-Intersection is depicted above as the first ramp and red arrow right above where it says August 26th in the picture. You want to go right here and down to the end of the hall as shown and go right. Then hug the wall to your left and take the passage shown down to the stone room. If you take a wrong turn you will be lost in a maze of like tunnels and could wander for hours.
Also don't take the monster positions in the above picture as gospel. As is the case in any dungeon, they may change from patch to patch. 7. If your alone just run in, grab the stone and portal out. If you don't have item or someone in your group doesn't have it then this guide is not going to help you get out :). The only exit portals are at the bottom of those pits the bridges cross and the one right across from the starting room. 8. Here is a snapshot of the location of the stone (Note: there are also gems in there. The stone is the bigger, lavender one): Note: As of the January patch, the spawn on the stone is now every 20 or so seconds, so you should be able to get in and out f there fairly quickly. Also, two of the four gems that spawn with it are worth 1000 pyreals each, so if you can hang for a bit, you can make some $$$ real fast. :) Step 4: Recall out, or run back up the stairs and jump off the bridge to get to an exit portal. Remember though, there are NASTY monsters outside if you go outside... Enjoy your new sparking stone!! |
