Step 0: Preparation

• Fire-weapon for the temple section (undead to kill)

Step 1: The Broken Staff

  Ok, to start this quest, you will need to bring  an L note to the guy at the 4 towers outside of Zaikhal (12.5N  2.3E)  He will let you into the temple.  Inside you will face some undead.  You will find the broken staff on the undead high-priest at the end of the dungeon.  This place is HUGE, and you will need to collect several keys.  Here is a map of the dungeon with the key locations:

   This process assumes you already have the 4 keys, and you are in the fountain
Room.  It also works best with at least 2 people.  Until further warning, the
worst monsters you'll meet are simple Undead, Skeletons, and Skeleton Warriors.

L = lever
D = Door
G = Gate

1) L1 opens D1
2) L2 opens D2

Run through D1 and clear the hallway all the way up to D5 (Skeletons and
Skeleton Warriors)

3) L4 opens D4
4) L3 opens D3

5) use one of the keys to open G1 (try them all)
6) station one person by L5 (don't pull yet)
7) use one of the keys to open G2 (try them all)
8) station one person by L6 (don't pull yet)

Do a full buff cycle for yourself, especially for lightning and fire.

You will now be fighting Undead Priests and an Undead High Priest (level 40+)
9) L5 opens D5
10) L6 opens D6

Kill 2 Undead Priests

11) Use one key to open D7
12) Use one key to open D8

Kill 4 Undead Priests and Undead High Priest.

The broken Staff will be on the corpse of the Undead High Priest.  Make sure to
not kill him until you can loot his corpse.  He dissolves fairly quickly and
will take the staff with him.  The High Priest re-spawns in about 20 or 30 mins

Step II: Smelting Pot and Ore

  Go to the Mite Maze (the man outside the temple told you you would need to come here) and find Harlune the Misanthrope (see map below.)  To get into his section, you will need a lockpicker to open the door for you.  Give him the staff and he will give you a smelting pot and tell you to go to the Colier mines to get the ore.  You will then need an alchemist to use the smelting pot on the ore, to refine it for you.

Step III: Repairing the Staff

Go back to the Mite Maze (see map below again), and give the ore to Harlune.  He will give you the Impious staff (no-drop, no-give).  Also, after you give him this, if you keep double-clicking on him for a bit, he will eventually give you the clue that leads you on a quest to get a portal recall scroll.
